Following the line of something — literally a road or a river, or figuratively a policy, a plan or someone's wishes. ご希望に沿って is set-phrase polite business Japanese.

Not to be confused with
- 〜に基づいて／〜に基づく — 〜に沿って keeps to the shape of something; 〜に基づいて rests on it as grounds.
- 〜に応じて／〜に応じた — 〜に応じて varies case by case with the input; 〜に沿って simply does not deviate from one given line.
